So I understand where Craig is coming from. Some folks, no matter what the “dream” or idea is, do not have the funds or ability to push it full time. And some folks, absolutely are happy with a few extra dollars from their “hobby”. And if that “hobby” happens to strike gold, where as they can make it a career, GREAT for them.

Now, with Jody point, if whatever the project is, you expect to strike GOLD, without the effort, then Yes Quit. Wasting your time, and expecting it to just magically work. Great insight from both of you!

I agree, Joe. A lot of people don't have the money and time to do their dream full-time. And I would say I don't expect people to do it full-time, but to figure out how to do it with all the spare time and to take it seriously, the be the professional. Start as a side hustle with a 100% intention of making it the full-hustle some day.

I think you've said it before, there's always time to do the things you want to do.

Wow! That’s pretty perfect. I get that at home, all too often now. I definitely make time, for the things that are “important “ to me. But, don’t really focus on a ton of things as a family, or that she ask. Great prospective. For me, I don’t think of it as “I don’t want to do it” or “you only care about yourself “ I simply, just get wrapped within my head so much, I lose focus on what is around me.

Same. Aside from the writing end, I have to keep myself on track or I lose and forget to stay on top of things. I'm trying all different kinds of organizing approaches to keep myself on point :)

I definitely believe writers and authors need to know what they're signing up for. Sugar coating it isn't going to help at all and it still seems like there are a lot of writers out there living with this idea that if you can write and publish your book online you're headed for "the big time," and it's not even close. I totally agree with Jody on the front that you have to work hard and put in the time beyond just writing.
