So long as I am receiving positive feedback from my readers/listeners, I could go on and on without burning out. It's in the long periods of silence when I get discouraged over this dream of becoming a published novelist.
I know that feeling. And I'd add that one version of positive feedback from my readers and listeners is when they buy the book in any format. When someone will spend money to consume your thoughts, stories, and worlds, that is almost a surreal level of support it boggles my mind still. I mean, shoot, I've been known to withhold a $2 knickknack from one of my children because...well...because I don't know why.
