Seems like one of the big factors that contributes to success is having that back catalog to multiply sales. By next summer (by the book tour) I hope to have 7-9 books done and will definitely take a stab at these marketing strategies. Would love t make thousands of dollars a week.

I imagine you'll see better results when you have your series done, rather than just the promise of a series.

Spot on. It’s all about the backlist, but I am hoping that you’re underestimating how many people will be willing to buy my books even on pre-order once I dial-in the advertising and the pricing. I guess I’ll go broke if I can’t figure it out. 😬

I think I'm more of a cart after the horse kind of guy...

BUT, I'm curious to see how it goes and hoping for the best!

I'm deflated.

And, strangely, encouraged.

Another great show. (You were right.) I wish I were a numbers gal, but I do think there are some avenues to be considered. Thank you for the nuts and bolts that is today's episode. Seriously. Enlightening.

Don't be deflated! I think the encouraging thing here is that there's an equation, and when we put numbers in X then Y which equals Z. Take courage. But also, I will admit, the cost before you get to Z is daunting, which you know as well, probably better than anyone.

It's interesting that while not someone who is numbers-oriented, I do have in me a deep-seated desire for "order" (vs. chaos). So, as daunting as the climb may be, it really is nice - and even reassuring - that there is a logical progression with a clear answer (formula, path, whatever). I really liked the episode a lot.

I certainly appreciate Jody discovering how to avoid the dangers of the fire swamp for us.

I get it, Jody! I love art too. I'd been in a creative slump for a long period and am slowly recapturing the joy I feel when writing. I find your insights match with my personal philosophy and ethics, and listening to TRBM helps me move past this pesky slump. Kudos to you!

I'm a number's girl myself, so i found this so interesting, valuable, and enjoyable. Well done. Oh, and your ethics are refreshing to hear. I love the analogy of treating books as a high value asset. I have no desire to be a book slum lord. @Madame_Robinksa

Thank you, Robin! It would do a world of good for authors if we all saw our books for what they are. I mean, I love art, and I write with a passion for art that isn't a contradiction to viewing our work as an asset.
