Wow - Mr. Pizza has so much energy and perspective. I really love that. I like episodes where we hear the journey of the writer and about their books and how they got started. And how they're continuing on.

Interesting about the smiling thing you do. I am the polar opposite. I have to get wayyyyy low. As in, borderline depressed. I have to "go dark," as I say. And it's an iffy place. I have to be ... I guess, "monitored" is as good a description as any. I need to be left alone, in that dark place, but I also have to be checked on to make sure I didn't go "too" dark and it's beyond what I need to write. I couldn't imagine smiling while I work. The ways we all handle our work, how we approach it, our processes, etc., are really fascinating to me.

I don't journal, though. I just don't. Lately, I've had some instances that convinced me that I need to have a notebook nearby to make notes/observations. So I do that. But I'm not "journaling" about my days. It would be way too boring.

I enjoyed hearing about Mr. Pizza's process and his journey. And to his point, while we've discussed "The Secret" and all, I will say that I do know what it's like to want "one thing." I work 7 days a week on my career (not always writing, but something that has to do with that career). And I work at it, dedicated, for several hours a day but am always in that mode even after the technical "work day" is over and I leave my den. Always in my head, my conversations, and such. It's isolating, arguably, but to me, it's where I live all the time. I just haven't found my place yet.

I think what Andy said around the 47th minute was so insightful about The Secret and The Law of Attraction.

As for being low, I can't imagine that, though I used to just be however I was with no external focus on the attitude I brought to the "page". (Can we just call it the page with no quotes and know I'm talking about the keyboard and screen?)

I'm eager to see what you think of The 24/7 given this is the first book I've written smiling. What if you hate it because it's unlike the others? It's actually a lot, lot like the others, but here I go fretting over nothing. I'll send you the manuscript here shortly, though I know you won't get to it for a bit with your upcoming busy times.

I've been waiting for it, so yes, I'm eager. As soon as I get back from vacation, I can start it. Unless something interesting occurs between now and - say - Friday afternoon that has us all planning something in the near future.
