I just discovered TRBM, because I'm a fan of Libbie's... and boy- this podcast DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Jody. What a treasure. I kept thinking, oh I'll just listen another 5 minutes- and before I knew it, the hour had passed. Really great.
So glad you enjoyed, Carrie! Since the day I interviewed Libbie, there's hardly been an episode that goes by where I don't mention her journey. I love how she talks about writing. Just spending five hours first thing in the day writing, and then the rest of the day belongs to her. It's so ideal!
This was a very interesting show. It was the first one I listened to where I had a negative reaction to the some of the aspects of the discussion and, tbh, felt it might be best if I not finish. This is not a comment on the overall podcast, a negative response to the author herself, or anything. I admire Libbie Grant's work ethic, though I do feel like there are some tactics she uses that I would not - even as a full-time writer myself, who feels that (yes) it's about creating art.
I think it's great that there are diverse opinions on the role of an author and what they might "use" in their work or in deciding how they get their inspiration. Or maybe not inspiration so much as writing to trend, with a twist. I certainly celebrate Libbie's ability to make a legitimate living as a full-time writer. I guess I just hope that, in some respects, there's more than one way to skin the proverbial cat.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts more fully, Heather. My sense is that you heard elements of the conversation that eluded me. But there are absolutely, definitely, guaranteed more than one ways to skin a cat. Thank you, for the honest feedback!
I'm looking forward to The 9 Lives.… I will, however, wait for the paperback. I like the smell and feel of the pages, especially on musty books from the fifties with foxing pages.
Corey, I'm happy to say that while I slept, amazon was hard at work, and the link to the paperback is now live. If you can't wait, feel free to grab it off Amazon. But if you'd prefer, I'll have discounted copies available directly from my store within the next 10 business days, and the first 100 copies will go out signed.
Thank you for your continued support, by the way. You have been a consistent voice of encouragement, and enthusiasm, and I am grateful for you.
Oohh, a signed copy. Perhaps I will wait for your signature. As for my support, I appreciate your appreciating me. However, I feel I haven't been that supportive lately. All of your podcasts sound so interesting, yet I haven't listened to them. It’s a time issue. Maybe I'll listen to each in chunks, fifteen minutes here, fifteen minutes there.
We haven't chatted in a while, but I've been lurking. It’s amazing watching you grow. Your website looks fantastic, by the way.
I'll send you a note when my case of books arrive and I'm ready to send out the signed ones. I understand the crunch. There are so many great writers, podcasters, filmmakers. It's endless, and it all deserves attention, yet there's the pressure of life! All the same, you've been a generous and kind person. Thanks again!

As always, great show, Jody.

Are you putting other books in paperback? I'll still buy and read them, even if you don't. Anyway, it was nice catching up. I appreciate you.
Oh, and (warning: shameless plug) I am officially freelancing now, so if you ever need any help, I’m available.
I was wrong. Shame abounds.
Wrong about what?
