If you’ve ever uttered the words, “I’ve been doing this for twenty years,” that should be an immediate red flag for you. No matter who you are or what you’ve been doing, experience is not a replacement for expertise. I’ve seen runners run for years and never challenge themselves, and those runners frequently get smoked by brand new runners who commit to a constant improvement protocol.

The same is true in every discipline, so never confuse repetition with mastery. Don’t do it.
