The Read Aloud function in Word is a godsend, to be sure. I'm thrilled with it, though I wish they had more voice choices (there are other programs out there that do the same thing, but I like it just being in Word and it's great).

I'm disheartened to hear about the continued bias of literary fiction in the self-publishing community. And how maybe strong characters and slow-burn novels have obstacles selling to today's readers. It's a struggle to overcome such things.

One of the things I love about TRBM is that it's always a "meaty" discussion, and there is a lot to take in and incorporate into our individual literary careers. Always an eye-opening, and humbling, experience.

The free books thing ... still on the fence. I think there is an art to doing it effectively. So many people "collect" free books and brag about their large TBR list, but they never seem to tout any of them - as if they're just collectors and then they don't actually read (or review).

KU is appealing to me, for specific books (not my saga). I'm considering doing a couple there in addition to what I'm doing outside that platform.

KU has been reasonably successful for THE 9 LIVES OF MARVA DELONGHI. And in terms of income, it rivals libraries per page. I'm even considering using Vellum to release The 6 Sorrows of Shohei Matsui (book 4 of The Luke In Time Mysteries) to grab some of those readers. But there's simply no better way to do things than to sell direct. I even view the future of publishers as allowing authors autonomy in joint marketing.

There's simply no reason the publisher can't provide an "affiliate" link for authors to market digital assets, flipping the income model. All my sales are net of cost 90/10 with my link. All their sales are 90/10 with their link.

In now give books away to anyone who asks, and I then throttle them for reviews until they either followthrough on their commitment or regret ever taking my book. If you take a freebie, you are unethical to leave it on the "shelf".

Thanks as always for the kind words regarding the show. We're growing every week!
