This episode was so fun. Ray's perspective on people being cultivated really spoke to me. I agree with Jody that "real" connection with other writers (phone, in person, etc.) can really stir our creative juices. It's nice having like-mindeds in our sphere. That's one great thing about TRBM.

I'm in the same boat with Jody about the volumes of documents created in trying to develop and define the "universe" that is my saga. I have, literally, several full boxes of peripheral information about mine. Spreadsheets. Web pages saved. Addresses for characters (real houses) including inside photos and/or floorplans. Research. Character biographies. The whole nine yards.

I love diving into all this stuff. Love listening to others' processes. And I completely agree with Ray about developing things that would be "real," and not contrived. That's right up my alley.

The universe is a secret pleasure of mine. I want it built for all my books, some kind of connective tissue where each book also exists in the world of the other books, even out of series.

I love that idea so much. I'd love to do that in my other books - make references to the characters in the saga. I think that would be really cool. Give them new and extended life. It really is a brilliant thing.
