It always makes me smile when I see people recommend Ursula K Le Guin. She is a much underrated author of fiction (especially short stories) and nonfiction.

I used to live and work in the Inland Northwest, and my job took me to Pendleton, Oregon on the regular. There they had a huge gas station next to the rodeo, and inside that gas station, Le Guin always had a poster about a workshop she would lead or a local reading she'd be giving. I loved knowing she was so active in a small, out-of-the-way nook of the country. I've read the good majority of her works, and the only one so far I'd have even a word against is LAVINIA. She's amazing!

What a fascinating episode. Wow.

So far out of my own genre and typical preferences, but quite compelling - as well as a stretch. An intelligent episode and one well-worth listening to. It makes one think. Jody and Pat make a wonderful "think tank" of the future and possibilities of AI.
