As always, an entertaining (and enlightening) story. Though not much of a Sci-Fi/Fantasy gal, I found it very interesting. Tony and Jody's conversation was fascinating. Looking forward to the next story episode.
If I were writing the story, I'd probably add an element of suspense, in that there would be the evil Pharma industry that had taken the plants. Maybe they had created the ailment, with the intent to harvest the cure. In any case, I'd include some backstory there. But I'm jaded that way. Having spent years in that industry, I'm privy to a lot of the "why" questions Jody and Tony discussed, and it ain't pretty. So there's the sinister side of that, which I'd revel in exposing.
In fact, I don't even know if I'd have had a happy ending. I might have had the main character and his helper return the plants, but too late to save him. They get up there, exhausted (because the increased heart rate from of the physical energy exerted to actually climb that mountain - twice - would have accelerated the process of the striations moving along), and then as they restore the plants, he drifts off to sleep but not because he's regenerating, but that he's succumbing to the affliction. And maybe the helper - in the last scene - is being interviewed some time later about the heroic sacrifice of her friend and how his tragic journey may not have saved *his* life, but the lives of so many have been saved because their journey exposed the malevolent intent of the Pharma folks. And now, the world has these plants in that naturopathic form to save untold others.
I don't know. Something like that. I think not every story has to have a happy ending, but perhaps the self-sacrifice is a good alternative. Sometimes, the tragic inevitability of a story is still a satisfying ending.
Great show! And since these things are always on the fly, it's awesome to listen to them because (like Jody says) anyone can take them and just run with variations since no two will end up the same.
